What’s in a Beehive?

A beehive is a complex and organized structure that serves as the home for a colony of bees. Inside a beehive, you’ll find the following key components:

1. Bees: The colony consists of three main types of bees:

• Queen Bee: The single reproductive female responsible for laying eggs.

• Worker Bees: Sterile females that perform various tasks such as foraging for nectar and pollen, caring for the young, maintaining the hive, and protecting it.

• Drones: Male bees whose primary role is to mate with a virgin queen.

2. Brood: The developing stages of bees, which include:

• Eggs: Laid by the queen in individual cells.

• Larvae: Hatch from the eggs and are fed by worker bees.

3. Honeycomb: The wax structure composed of hexagonal cells, which serves multiple purposes:

• Honey Storage: Cells filled with honey, which is made from nectar and used as food.
